Marko Savran
I'm Marko Savran, a web analyst based in Warsaw. I've spent more than ten years in SEO and web analytics, and these days I run every tool I write about on my own servers: Matomo, Plausible Community Edition, Umami, GoatCounter and GoAccess, usually on a 2 to 4 GB VPS. On Open Source Analytics I publish step-by-step installs with tested configs, side-by-side tests where one log file goes through several analyzers, and plain notes on what each setup costs to keep running.
What runs in my lab
The tools I install, update and break on purpose before I write about them.
$ cat stack.txt matomo php + mysql on its own vps plausible-ce docker compose umami docker + postgres goatcounter one go binary goaccess reads nginx access logs # one log, five tools, one table
Real servers, named versions
Commands in a guide run on a server first, and the guide says which version they were checked against.
One input, several tools
The same log file or set of pages goes through several analyzers, and the numbers land in one table.
A short card for every tool
Script weight, where the data lives, licence and how much upkeep it needs, in one place.
